PORTION GUIDE

ROUND cakes

Round cakes are the classic choice for all cakes.

The portion guide is to help you choose which size or sizes is the right fit for your occasion.

TALL CAKES will have 4 layers of sponge,

we use the term full slice for this.

-

SHORT CAKES will have 2 layers of sponge,

we use the term half slice for this.

If your cake design calls for a tall cake, short cake or a mix of both, the portion number is still the same however,

tall cakes = 4 layers of sponge

short cakes = 2 layers of sponge.

If your cake is a tall cake then you have the option to double your portions by turning your full slice into a half slice.

Cake size combinations (ROUND)

We have listed a the most popular combination sizes for tiered cakes.

We have done the math for you to make the process of calculating which size cake you will need a little easier.

There are alternative size options and certain designs may call for a different size combination, If this is the case then get in touch so we can advise you the best option.

SQUARE cakes

square cakes with their sharp edges are very striking.

Although they do not seem to be most people's first choice they can really elevate a cake design.
Square cakes cover a larger surface area therefore have a larger portion number.

Most people tend to combine square cakes with other cake shapes when it comes to tiered cakes.

CAKE CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS

Cakes have evolved over the years becoming increasingly taller and at times very odd shapes.

Sometimes this can make cutting a cake difficult and messy.

Here is a guide to help get the best results when cutting your cake.
